Kontroversi Miss Perancis
Dua pekan setelah dia dimahkotai sebagai Miss Perancis, foto-foto Bègue yang diambil sebelum pemilihan election, berpakaian lengkap tetapi lebih mengesankan sebagai gambar dengan pose kurang seronok, yang dirilis oleh Tabloid Perancis Entrevue. Presiden Miss Perancis, Geneviève de Fontenay, pergi ke radio Perancis, bersikeras bahwa Valérie Bègue harus "turun tahta" dan mengembalikan mahkotanya,[1] atau dia akan dipaksa didiskualifikasi. Fontenay mengatakan kepada para reporter bahwa jika Endemol, perusahaan penyelenggara kontes Miss France tidak menyetujui keputusannya, dia siap berhenti sebagai presiden.
